Candle Villa E 1027

Iconic house Designed by Irish architect and designer Eileen Gray, was an obsession of Le Corbusier. The villa — essentially a white rectangle perched upon the Cap-Martin cliff face — is a modernist building. The architect built her private residence as a peaceful retreat on a cliff in the French Riviera for her and her lover Jean Badovici, creating a fully-customized interior design, fit-outs, and furniture.  Eileen Gray was 48 when she began working on E-1027, her first ever house. By this point she was a respected furniture designer, but had grown tired of designing the fancy interiors of other people’s houses.

The scents of the sea dwell in the villa, crisp and a bit woody. Petitgrain provides this fresh odor, aspiring to Colognes – something of the sweetness of neroli – but also woody, green and with a touch bitter, with a slightly masculine edge. This citrus accord enhanced with lemon, bergamot and pineapple. Soapy coriander in the heart of aroma is supported with florals, mint adds a hint of breeze. The base is compiled with wooden and grassy notes of vetiver, guaiac wood, cedarwood and fleshly musk.
